"Keys to Drawing" è un manuale classico, simile in qualche modo a "disegnare con la parte destra del cervello", che cerca di illustrare 55 principi che cercano di fare in modo di osservare davvero quello che si ha di fronte, scritto in modo da riuscire a partecipare, ad esercitarsi, fin dal principio.

Bert Dodson, l'autore, va oltre nel "seguito": "Keys to Drawing with imagination", che è più una guida pratica alla creatività.
