Fortunino Matania è uno dei massimi pittori del XX secolo.

L’artista napoletano partito ventenne per l’Inghilterra era attivo nel primo Novecento e ritrasse la tragedia del Titanic. A Londra aiutò Hitchcock sul set de "L’uomo che sapeva troppo". Nel 1934, illustra "I pirati di Venere" di Borroughs.
