Dopo 25 anni Tempest ed il suo frenetico gameplay la fanno ancora da padrone nella scena indipendente.

Torus Trooper di Kenta Cho riprende la navigazione dentro i tunnel aggiungendo come elemento il tempo e usando la grafica openGL.

Ultra the Game porta avanti l'interpretazione di Jeff Minter in Tempest 2000.

Tsunami 2010, presentato al Breakpoint 2003, ricrea l'atmosfera dell'originale in soli 96 Kb.
